Christmas Classic - Sunday
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a College tournament in Oklahoma. View manager contact information
Dear Forensics Community:
The forensics teams of Oklahoma City University and West Texas A&M University cordially invite you to the Christmas Classic Swing, to be hosted on the beautiful sunny campus of Oklahoma City University November 30-December 2, 2018.
We invite you to join us for a weekend of competition featuring two complete individual event tournaments with the eleven AFA events, and a debate tournament with Parliamentary and IPDA debate formats. Each individual event tournament (OCU Invitational on Saturday and WTAMU Invitational on Sunday) will include two preliminary rounds and a final (semi-finals if necessary). Parliamentary Debate will include five, and IPDA five preliminary rounds on Friday, and out-rounds as needed on Saturday. NPDA will include one open division and IPDA will include junior and varsity divisions if warranted by entry sizes of each event. Competitors must have less than two years of experience in college forensics to compete in the junior division. Divisions may be collapsed if small entry sizes warrant. Students may enter in either Parliamentary or IPDA on Friday, but not both. Students may enter three individual events per pattern. Two duos count as two events.
We are pleased to also announce that in the tradition of celebrating the creativity and fellowship of the forensics community, we will be having opportunities to share the Christmas spirit. Christmas cards will be available to send to fellow competitors or schools, along with Christmas goodies and decorations. We will have an ugly Christmas sweater competition for coaches and a forensics Christmas carol parody competition. Finally, we are asking that teams help make it a special Christmas for those less fortunate in the area. If your team is interested, please bring a new unwrapped toy(s) to add to a contribution to Toys for Tots on behalf of our forensics community.
Further details about the Christmas Classic Swing follow on the next few pages. We look forward to receiving your entry by the deadline: Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 5:00 p.m. through Speechwire. Please visit their website to enter.
We can’t wait to see you in Oklahoma City during the most wonderful time of the year!

OCU is a smoke-free campus. Please refrain from tobacco use on campus. A number of food options are available both on campus, and within walking distance. The tournament will provide food for debaters on Friday evening. We will also provide a hospitality lounge with breakfast, lunch, and snacks for judges and coaches.
Hotel Suggestions The OCU sits in the heart of the Oklahoma City Metro Area. There are many affordable hotels in the uptown and downtown area to fit any budget. Other options may be in the surrounding areas of Midwest City or Moore. Please research the best options for your organization.
OCU Campus Map & Parking Tournament Registration will be held in the Walker Center. Parking is available on the North side of the building. The tab room will be located in Walker Center 153 and the judges/coaches lounge will be in Walker Center X. A map of the OCU campus can be found here: INSERT LINK!
Forensics Christmas Carol Parody Teams wishing to show off their senses of humor and creativity may have one entry per school. Teams are asked to create a parody about the forensics tournament to the tune of their own chosen Christmas carol. Entries may include as many competitors as you wish, but must have at least three. The top three entries will be awarded. Entries in this event are not counted towards sweepstakes.
Coach’s Ugly Sweater Contest Coaches are encouraged to wear their ugliest Christmas sweaters to the tournament Saturday. Sweaters may be store-bought or student/homemade. Students will have the opportunity to vote on the ugliest sweater of their choice throughout the day on Saturday. The top three ugliest sweaters will be awarded.
