South Range High School/Middle School Speech and Debate Tournament on Saturday, December 1, 2018.

 

We will offer the following competition:

Individual Events: We will offer a total of three (3) rounds of competition. You may enter up to four (4) competitors in each category and list them as Varsity. Any other competitor should be listed as JV. No more than six (6) competitors may be registered in any category, including JV. 

 

Public Forum Debate: We will offer four preliminary rounds of competition.  Please follow the DECEMBER NSDA topic. There will be a maximum of 4 entries (mark as Varsity in SpeechWire). If you have additional entries, please enter them and mark them as JV. We will add them as space permits. We cannot accept adds after the entry deadline.

 

Lincoln-Douglas Debate: We will offer four preliminary rounds of competition. Please follow the DECEMBER NSDA topic. There will be a maximum of 4 entries (mark as Varsity in SpeechWire). If you have additional entries, please enter them and mark them as JV. We will add them as space permits. We cannot accept adds after the entry deadline.

 

Student Congress: We WILL be hosting student congress at the tournament and registration for this event is capped at no more than 6 entries per school.   We will be utilizing the NOVEMBER docket. (It will also be available to all the schools on Speechwire.  Legislation will not be accepted the day of the tournament). We will have 2 preliminary sessions of Congress (approximately 1hr each). We will be scoring based on judge preference. We will also be using direct questioning. We will break to a final chamber and final session legislation will be determined the week prior to the tournament.

 

There will be NO HS BQD OR POLICY DEBATE.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL EVENTS

 

Individual Events: We will offer a total of three (3) rounds of competition. Students may compete in MS Interpretation, MS Original, or Declamation. Please enter competitors in their respective grouping on SpeechWire.

 

Middle School Student Congress: No more than 6 entries. Please enter competitors into MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT CONGRESS. 

 

 

The registration deadline for competitors is MONDAY, November 19, 2018 at 3:00 PM.

The registration deadline for judges is THURSDAY, November 22, 2018 at 8:00 PM.

 

However, efforts to register by mid-November would be greatly appreciated. 

 

As is standard practice, we ask that competitors do not leave the premise or order outside food for lunch (according to OSDA policy).  There will be food for sale in the cafeteria at reasonable prices.

 

We will offer a Sweepstakes team trophy as well as individual awards for 1st-6th place in all events.
