TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:

Your team is invited to join us at Liberty High School on Saturday, January 20th, 2017 for our Speech & Debate tournament at Liberty High School and Guy Middle School.
 
Events:  Each high school may enter six contestants in all IE categories and Student Congress. You may register six Varsity LD Debaters and six Public Forum Teams. Debates will use the January NSDA topics.  If you wish to enter more contestants than permitted please let me know and if space permits you will be notified.
 
We will be offering middle school competition. This will depend on the number of competitors and categories. Depending on the amount of middle school competitors we may combine categories under the following three headings: This is a great opportunity for middle school students to experience speech and debate on a smaller scale. This will depend on entries and more details will come once we see how many schools would be bringing middle school students.     
 
Quick Updates:
Drop all events off to the High School by 8:00am.  Debate and Speech competitors will be in opening ceremony at the High School. Extempers will head to prep room at 8:30 to start extemp prep. Once ceremony is done, all debaters and SC will walk the 150ft to the MS out the side door down from auditorium. 
 
There will be no Policy Debate at this tournament.
 
Registration: All teams must register online at www.Speechwire.com .
All contestants must be registered by 5:00 p.m. on January 16th, 2017 using Speechwire software.
Your judges must be registered by Monday, January 15th by 6pm.
 
Lunch: Wendy's Burgers, and Crispy Chicken sandwiches, pasta, gluten free pasta, sauce, salad, baked goods.
 
Awards:  Individuals: 1st through 6th place in all events. Awards ceremony will be open in the Auditorium. Sweepstakes will be computed on your best ten competitors overall. MS will get ribbons based on entries. TBD based on entries
 
Judges:  1 judge for every 5, or fraction of 5, IE events 
1 judge for 1 or 2 PF entries, 2 judges for 3 or 4 LD entries 
         1 judges for every 6 congress entries
 
 
Fees:  $3.50 per student in IE and LD. $7.00 per Duo Team and Public Forum Team. 
Make checks payable to Liberty High Speech and Debate Team.
 
Schedule: 8:00 � 8:30 Registration at table by computer lab- All students to be dropped off the high school in the morning.  
PF and LD will be included in the opening ceremony. Once opening ceremony is over they will walk out the side doors down from the auditorium to Guy Middle School. 
8:30 a.m. � General Assembly in the auditorium- Extempers head to extemp prep room and SC starts round 1. 
9:00 a.m.  Round one
 
We will be running 3 rounds of IE competition and 4 of debate.  Lunch will be available at 12p.m. in the cafeteria. 
 
Extemp:  Prep room will be up stairs in the community room.  We have Wifi but it is very limited.  Do not count on being able to access it.  You are permitted to use your smartphone as a hotspot if you have one.  Outlets are also limited in the prep room.  No extra strips will be provided. 
 
Tabroom:  Closed to everyone but the district committee, or by invite
 
The middle school is within walking distance of the high school. One small road for bus access runs between the two school buildings. Debate will be held at the Middle School.  All students should get dropped off at the High School for opening ceremony then debate can walk to the Middle School.  It is within walking distance.  Lunch will be served at the High School.  Light snacks will be at the middle school.
