Dear Forensics Community,

 

On behalf of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Illinois at Springfield, we cordially invite all of you to join us during the first weekend of February (Feb. 3 & 4) to the Fourth Annual Illini Stars Swing. Day 1 will be hosted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. And day 2 will be hosted by the University of Illinois at Springfield. Both days will take place on the Urbana-Champaign campus.

 

We will offer all 11 AFA events and will hold semifinals for any event that surpasses 45 entries. If you have any questions, feel free to call or send us an email. Any questions regarding Day 1 should be directed towards Teresa Kubiak of UIUC. Questions regarding Day 2 should be directed towards Eric Woods of UIS.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:

 

Entries & Fees: Competitors are allowed to enter up to 3 events per flight. Semifinals will be held for any event with 45 or more entries. Entries are due at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 30th. Drops will be taken until Wednesday, January 31st at 5:00 PM. A drop fee of $15 will be assessed after that. Each entry will be $8.00. We at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign are a student run team, so we are happy to talk about fee waivers for any student run team as well! 

 

Judges: Each Judge will cover 6 entries. Uncovered entries will be an additional $10.00. Any Judges dropped after the Wednesday 5pm deadline will be assessed a drop fee of $50.

 

Individual Sweepstakes: Students competing in 4 events in at least 2 genres will be eligible for Individual Sweepstakes Awards.

 

Awards: Awards will be given to all the finalists in each event, the top non-advancing novice in each event will be recognized, top 5 individual speakers will be awarded, as well as the top 5 schools overall. A novice for our tournament will be defined as anyone in their first year of collegiate speech.

 

Parking: Parking on weekends is free in any University parking lot. Lots close to Gregory Hall include Lot E3 located on the corner of Sixth & Armory as well as lot C9 on the corner of 5th and Chalmers. Please note: some spots in these lots are reserved 24/7. Parking in these spots may result in a parking ticket.
