Dear Coaches, Competitors, and Judges,

 

Welcome to the Maverick Invitational. We are excited to host you on January 27th, 2018.

 

Events: We are pleased to offer outstanding competition in Congressional Debate, Original Oratory, Mixed Extemporaneous, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Program Oral Interpretation, and Informative. We are also tentatively hosting a World Schools Debate division, at least 6 teams are needed to effectively operate a tournament.

 

Rounds: There will be 4 rounds of competition and Finals. Congress will have 3 preliminary sessions and a Final Session. WSD will be a round robin of 5 rounds if there are only 6 entries, if there are more, we will run 4 prelims and Finals.

 

Judges: In order to run a smooth and efficient tournament, we will need you to provide 1 judge for every 4 Speech entries (including Congress) and/or 1 jusge for every 2 WSD entries. There is a $100 charge for missing judges. 

 

Entry fee: Entry fees will be $25.00 per competitor. Speech competitors can double enter for no additional charge.

 

Deadlines: Entries will be accepted through Friday January 19th at 5:00pm. After the entry deadline, all drops and changes will need to be emailed to speechanddebate@mccarthyhigh.org. After the deadline has passed, any drops will forfeit their entry fee. On Wednesday January 24th any drops will be assessed the entry fee plus a $15.00 penalty. Drops the day of or during the tournament will forfeit the entry fee plus a $25.00 penalty.

 

Meals: All meal prices for competitors are included in the entry fee. Judge meal fees are $10.00 per judge. Competitors will have the choice of chicken ceaser, italian, or Greek vegetarian wraps.

 

Registration: Registration will begin promptly at 7:00am on Saturday, January 27th in the iCatholic Center. Registration will close at 7:30am.

 

Congress: All Congress legislation should be emailed to speechanddebate@mccarthyhigh.org by Thursday, January 18th. Bills will be posted on Friday January 19th.

 

World Schools Debate: Rounds 1 and 3 will be prepared, and Rounds 2, 4, and Finals will be impromptu. Prepared round topics and impromptu topic areas will be posted on Friday December 29th.
