Friends in Speech:   Greetings and Salutations:  We are excited to invite you for yet another episode of the NDA-SJJ Tourducken! There is nothing better to kick off your Thanksgiving break than a tournament celebrating fowl. Alas, SJJ has a conflict this year and cannot host, but will join us in the future once again.  So this year, all events will be held at Notre Dame Academy.  We will start rounds at 9:30 to give any southerners a little extra travel time.  There will be four rounds of individual events and at least five of debate--depending on the cooperation of the elements and whatever else is in the universe to slow things down.   NDA will start registration at 8:30 and finish around 9:10.  It will be very important to let us know of drops on your way to the tournament.  Trish's cell phone is 419 343-0007 and we will be sending more info about parking, entrances/ We plan on including all i.e. events and are also willing to give policy a try as long as we have teams and judges register. If we end up having policy, we may start tht earlier than other rounds. Double entries are allowed, but please let us know if you are making that choice. At the moment, we are planning on a 9:30 start for rounds.  If we end up with all local teams, and/or anyone traveling a longer distance is coming the night before, we can start rounds at nine--anyone coming from further away, please let me knwo and I can adjust accordingly.

Registration will be open on Speechwire and follow the usual drill there! Thanks so much for joining us!   Blessings upon ye,
Trish Sanders (tsanders@nda.org) Dave DeChristopher Gabrielle Hymel

Hotel Info:  Two minutes from NDA--Secor Road has seen a boom in hotel building and new restaurants--you may want to check it our for States as we are ten minutes away from Sylvania.  There is a Hampton Inn and Suites Westgate --quite new as well as a new Holiday Inn Express and an old friend the Clarion--a Red Roof across the street has mixed reviews.

We will continue to use Rubber Ducks (oh, the infinite variety) for 1st through 6th place).  At our last two tournaments, we have been happy to add a turkey duck to pay homage to the Tourducken festivities.  These can absolutely be used for Thanksgiving decorations and will allow successful speakers to talk about their  accomplishments while passing the gravy.

Now the details of the days…

Registration:  We will start a little later this year at the request of our southern friends.  Hopefully we will avoid the very special ice storm that started our day last time. Will be from 8:30-9:10 am  at NDA and 8:20-8:50 am  at SJJ.  Debate only schools can check in only at SJJ.  Please drop your debaters off first.  We want to get the debate rounds going as soon as possible. Policy will start earlier.   For NDA--drop off at the front entrance and park either in the front or side lot--we will have computer check in waiting for any issues. As we are trying to make registration later and shorter, it is vital you call ahead with as many changes as possible. For SJJ, please enter the Iott Center entrance on Airport Highway.  If you are dropping a speaker or have travel issues, please call Trish for individual events—419 343-0007 or for debate, contact Dave Zavac via email.

Congress will use the OHSSL choices for this weekend.

Judges:  Please bring one judge for every five students in Individual Events or Congress.  Please bring one judge for every one-two L-D debaters.  For PF or Policy competitors, please bring one judge for every one to  two teams.  If you have one debate team, bring one judge, two teams bring one judge, three teams bring two judges, four teams bring two judges, etc. We may have a very few judges for hire for $50.00 a day.

Registration fees:  $5.00 per contestant regardless of events.  Make checks payable to Notre Dame Academy or to SJJ if you have only debate..

Registration deadline:  Please register on Speechwire. Please try to have registrations complete by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday the 17th. We will keep it open for changes until 3:00 p.m.on Friday the 20th without any issues.  It will be open for you to change after that if needed, but starting Saturday morning at about 8:00 a.m. we will be making the changes. We reserve the right to limit numbers in an event  to six per school, if we must, but do notexpect this to be an issue. Please contact Trish if you wish to double enter a student.
