Carthage Winter Classic

Dear Coach and Squad; It is our pleasure to invite you to the Carthage/Webb City Winter Classic on January 5th and 6th, 2018. Carthage will be hosting the varsity portion of the tournament and Webb City will host the novice portion. You will need to register on Speechwire.com. If you haven’t already done so, it’s easy! Create an account, enter your students in, and assign them to the events. You will need to enter them in the order that you want them to be in, ie the A spot needs to be your A spot person. Yes, you will need to enter names. Please feel free to call us if you have any questions concerning this program. Carthage will be hosting the following events: Policy Debate, Champ and Reg Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Champ and Reg Public Forum Debate, Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Original Oratory, Storytelling, and Prose/Poetry. If there are not enough entries for Champ (20) we will only have the Reg Division. Webb City will be hosting the following events: Policy Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Original Oratory, Storytelling, and Prose/Poetry. THIS YEAR: · Awards will be held at Webb City. · The semifinal round of policy debate will occur during the awards assembly. Please be aware of this!
The entry deadline is Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 3:00 pm. We will send out confirmations as soon as we are able. Schools will be financially responsible for dropped entries and additional entries (if available) beginning on Thursday January 04, 2018. We reserve the right to limit entries to provide a tournament that can function with an adequate number of judges for the amount of entries we receive. Please mark on Speechwire ASAP if you plan to attend so we may begin obtaining the appropriate number of judges.
