Events: We will be offering three rounds and finals in DI, HI, Poetry, Duo, POI, DX, IX, Original Oratory, Informative, CX, LD, Public Forum, and Congressional Debate.

Doubling: Debaters may not enter more than one event. Speech competitors may enter 2 events PER FLIGHT (4 events total). Extempers may not double enter in the extemp flight. Extempers risk losing prep time if they double enter in the opposite flight.

“The Academy Award”: We will be recognizing “The Academy Award for Best Speaker” to the speech student who performs the best that day based off of the number of times they appear in finals and how they place within said finals. “The Academy Award for Best Debater” will go to the debater from any of the three debate events with the highest speaker points.

Judging: We will be hiring several judges to make sure this tournament runs smoothly, but please bring judges! Due to language barriers we cannot turn to our parents to assist with as much judging as other schools can. We host this tournament during the holiday season in hopes you might recruit some of your alums home for the holidays to judge.

Fees and Payment: The entry fee will be $6 per congress entry. $8.00 per student in speech events. $10 per LD entry. And $18 per CX and PF team. This is to compensate for the higher price we are paying judges who judge debate rounds. 

Please make checks payable to “Strive Prep” IMPORTANT: Please send checks to 3201 W. Arizona Ave “ATTN: SMART/GRANT THOMAS”. This will help keep checks from floating around and mystery money remaining in your account.

Site:  The tournament will be held at SMART Academy High School, 3201 W Arizona Ave, Denver, CO 80219. Please park in the parking lot on the west side of the school (along Irving street).

Congressional Debate: Please submit bills and resolutions by Friday, December 8^th by email to gthomas@striveprep.org in the proper format.
