Please join us for the Blackduck Drakes Speech Challenge, Saturday, February 3rd, 2018, at Blackduck High School.  This is a 7-12 Varsity tournament featuring all 13 MSHSL competitive events.  The entry fee is $6.00 per speaker (duo counts as one).  Please provide judges at a 1:6 ratio.   Deadline to register your team is Tuesday, January 30th at 11:00 a.m., deadline for drops without charge is Thursday, February 1st at 3:00 p.m.  Drops after that will be charged, and you will be responsible for the correct number of judges.  Please bring your check for registrations on the morning of the tournament, and the number of judges agreed to in the judge to speaker ratio.

* NOTE: Make checks payable to "BHS Speech Booster," and NOT to the school or school district.  This is our tournament policy - but many schools do not note it in their check requests and it is important!!

On February 3rd, registration will begin at 8:00 a.m.
Draws and Discussion will begin at 9:30 (allowing Discussants to double enter) with competition rounds at 10:00, 11:30, and 1:00, with finals beginning close to 2:30 p.m.  We will plan to present awards close to 4:00 p.m.

Please ensure that your speakers are aware of the rules and etiquette of their categories and competition and that your judges are aware of MSHSL rules, expectations regarding keeping explicit ballots and writing critiques that provide speakers with appropriate feedback and suggestions. Likewise, ensure that your judges are aware of all rules and criteria and of the effect their words may have on students.

Assistance from experienced head coaches will be welcome in the tab room and ballot drop.  We look forward to seeing you in Blackduck on February 4th!
