Attention all Indiana Teams and Coaches:
You and your team are invited to the Kokomo High School Debate Tournament to be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017.  Registration will begin at 7:30 A.M. (Eastern Time) and end at 8:15 with round one beginning tentatively at 8:30 A.M.
Information on the tournament:
Entry deadline: 3 P.M. on Friday, October 20, 2017 on Speech wire.
Events:
Policy Debate – We will adhere to the Novice topic limits
Lincoln-Douglas Debate – October topic
Public-Forum Debate - October topic
Congress - Bills/resolutions 1, 4, 11, and 13
World Schools Debate:

Round 1: This house believes that we should support military intervention in Somalia.

Round 2: Impromptu

Round 3: This house would stop sending humans into space.

Round 4: Impromptu

Divisions: We are offering two
• Novice is being defined as having no debate experience prior to this school year.
o Varsity is being defined as having one or more years of debate experience.
Judges: One judge for every two LD competitors, one judge for every two policy or PF teams, and one judge for every six Congressional entries.  Varsity members may judge novice debate.
Hiring local judges – I do have a few former students who would be willing to serve as a judge for those of you who might be struggling finding someone.  I pay judges $30 for the day; you would need to cover this.  If you are interested, please email me.  It is first come, first serve.
Awards: Ribbons will be awarded to competitors who place 2nd-8th and trophies to the first place winner in each event and division (except World Schools – just ribbons).
Food: We will provide food for the judges in the judge’s lounge. Students may purchase their meals in the cafeteria. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BUILDING.  COACHES – PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENTS TO BUY FROM US IN THE CAFETERIA.  THIS IS HOW WE ARE ABLE TO HOST A TOURNAMENT AND PURCHASE AWARDS. If you and your team order in for yourselves or bring your lunches, the tournament will be a financial burden and we will be unable to host in the future.
Please contact me if you have any questions:  jascott@kokomo.k12.in.us  or via phone at 765-461-2649.  We are looking forward to a good debate!
