Dates: - We are switching to a one-day tournament model (common throughout Indiana) – for teams on that circuit, be aware of the times, as we plan to go a little bit longer than a traditional tournament Location: - Chesterton High School: 2125 South 11th Street, Chesterton Indiana 46304 o About an hour outside of Chicago Events: - Policy Debate: Varsity and Novice - Lincoln-Douglas Debate: Varsity and Novice - Public Forum Debate: Varsity and Novice - Congressional Debate: Varsity and Novice - World School Debate: Open Division Entry Caps - Initial caps per event will be at 6 entries per division for CX, LD, and PFD; 3 entries for WSD; and 12 entries for congressional debate o If room allows it we will accept additional entries from a waiting list Judges: - LD, Public Forum, Policy, and World School – 1 judge per 2 entries (or fraction their of) - Congressional Debate: 1 judge per 5 congress entries (or fraction their of) - Student judges o a varsity member who is at least a junior and have over 250 NFL points may judge novice. Their coach is responsible for the quality of the ballots Meals: - Full lunch will be available. TBD on full breakfast/late lunch Fees: - $0 per entry - $20 for every missing judge Rounds: - Preliminary Rounds o 6 rounds for PFD and LD o 4 rounds for Policy and WSD o 3 rounds for Congressional Debate - Elimination Rounds o Final round in Varsity LD and Varsity Public Forum - Congressional Debate’s 3rd round will be a scramble round (unprepared round) Contact Information: - Chris Lowery chslowery@gmail.com or chris.lowery@duneland.k12.in.us - 219-309-5316 Registration: - Final entries are due the Monday of the tournament (including judges) - Drops will be accepted without penalty – but it is preferred that they are done as early as possible
Planned Schedule: 7:30 – 8:00 – Final Registration on sight 8:15 – Round 1: all events 9:15 – Round 2 – LD, PFD 10:15 – Round 3 – LD, PFD; Round 2: CX and WSD 12:00 – Round 4 – LD, PFD; Round 2: Congress 12:15 – Round 3 – CX and WSD 1:00 – Round 5 – LD and PFD 2:00 – Round 6 – LD and PFD; Round 4 – CX 2:30 – Round 3 – Congress; Round 4 WSD 3:30 – LD and PFD Finals (Viewable) Additional TOPICS Congress Bills - available on IHSFA.org - IHSFA Bills 1,2,12,14 (in addition, there will be a scramble round that no kids have ahead of time) WSD - two rounds will be impromptu the other two rounds will be over the topic - 1. This House would establish federal government control over national elections.
