Happy September!

Our first MAST of the year is upon us, September 21, 2016 at Attucks Middle School (thanks Audrey Dallaire and Attucks Students/Parents)!

Please follow the instructions on this page to register your entries. Remember, each school may only initially enter FIVE students in all events except Congress, in which you can enter TEN. You should have AT LEAST 1 JUDGE PER FIVE STUDENTS. Also, please remember Audrey's request that you need to also have a non-judging chaperone/coach available at all times. If you are short judges, please reach out to your mentors or feeder high schools for assistance.

Registration for NEW ENTRIES will close on Monday, September 19 at 12pm. Waitlisted students will be released by no later than 4pm on Monday, September 19. Changes (drops or name changes) can be made until 12pm on Wedmesday, September 21. ANY CHANGES AFTER 12PM ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 will result in your school being fined $25 per drop. Any changes after that, please text Megan West: 940.206.3806 the school name, student who is dropping, and her/his event.

All judges AND students will report directly to the Auditorium/Cafeteria (they are connected) upon arrival.  Coaches will need to check-in at the "registration desk" and then monitor their students. After the Attucks bell rings, judges will be released to the Media Center and students to their competition rounds.

For PF, the SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER topic will be used. For LD, the NOVICE (civil disobedience) topic will be used. Extemp topic areas will be the U.S. Presidential Election and Cuba, and Impromptu topic areas will be Fall and Animals. Congress legislation will be from the NSDA's September Docket. We will use the following bills: "A Bill to Regulate Charter Schools," "A Bill to Discourage Private Prisons," "A Bill to Keep West Coast Out of the Loop," and "A Resolution to Reassure the World." You can find the full packet online here: https://www.speechanddebate.org/congress-legislation-2016-september/

More information may be sent out as the tournament approaches. Please let your mentor know if you have any questions about the process. We know this may be the first tournament for some of you!
