Dear Speech and Debate Coach,

The Bulgarian English Speech and Debate Tournaments Foundation (BEST), in conjunction with the Thomas Jefferson Second English Language High School in Sofia, invites all high school students to register now for the BEST National Speech and Debate Tournament of the 2015-2016 season. At this tournament, students from every region come together to close out the speech and debate year at our biggest tournament ever.

The tournament will be held 22-24 April 2016 at Thomas Jefferson Second English Language High School in Sofia. Due to the large number of competitors, additional rooms in 126 Petko Todorov primary school (a 5 minute walk from the host site) will be utilized throughout the tournament.

This competition will be a challenging, engaging, and fun opportunity for students to practice their public speaking and argumentation skills in English, as well as meet other motivated students from around the country.

Students can compete individually in the following events: Prose, Poetry, or Oratory. They can also compete in teams of two in Duo or teams of three in World Schools Debate. Detailed explanations and rules for each event are outlined in the Events Overview page. Participants are divided into Novice (Grades 8 and 9) or Varsity (Grades 10, 11, 12) divisions. Winners will receive medals, certificates, and local media publicity.
