Hello from Holy Family.  My name is Brenda Royal and I am the coach for LHF.  

 

 

We wish to accept only online registrations at SpeechWire. Please contact me if this is not possible. All results will be available online throughout the meet and after on the SpeechWire�s website. When entering students in duet and OID, please be sure to list full names for all competitors on one line (1 line=1 entry). Also, if only a last name is entered, when your student receives an award their last name will only be announced.

 

The deadline for entries will be Monday, February 1, 2015. Please have all student competitors entered by the deadline.  Registration will close at 6:30 P.M. on the 1st.  You can update and change your entries as many times as you want up until that time, but ABSOLUTELY no additions will be allowed after this time.

 

Tournament competition will consist of two preliminary rounds with one judge followed by one final round with two judges (varsity only).  The top six competitors in each division will advance to the final round competition.  All varsity finalists will receive medals,1st-6th places. This year, we will recognize the 7th place finishers.  The 7th place person will not compete in finals, but they will be recognized at the awards ceremony and will be presented with a heart-earned treat.  

 

Double entries are accepted but I am asking we limit the triple entries due to space constraints at Holy Family. Please make sure your extempers understand that they MUST be on time for extemp. Waiting on extempers to present can seriously alter the schedule of a meet. This may change, but I tentatively plan for the flights to offer the following: 

     Flight A events will consist of OID, Humorous Prose, Informative, Humorous Impromptu, and Poetry.

     Flight B events will consist of Duet Acting, Serious Prose, Extemporaneous, Persuasive, and Entertainment.  

 

Extemp prep will be in the high school library, located on the northwest corner of the gym.  Please pay close attention to the scheduled flights when determining whether or not a student can handle two or more events.  

 

Concessions will be in the commons area in the center of the school. 

 

Registration will be in the commons from 7:15a.m. until 7:45. Homeroom and awards will be in the gymnasium.  All announcements, including finalists, will be posted in the commons area, as well as the gymnasium.  There will be a TV with results just south of the concessions.

 

Judges will need to be provided for every 6 ENTRIES.  Uncovered judging slots will be charged $12 per uncovered entry.  Please be honest.

Please, please, please arm your judges with stopwatches.  All judges will need to be on call for finals unless they have made previous arrangements through you to be covered.

A hospitality room for all coaches, judges, and bus drivers will be in the commons. Please see me if your bus driver will be staying, as we have lunch certificates for them as well.

 

Fees are $8.00 per entry, individual or group.  Fees must be paid at morning registration or earlier.  There will not be any refunds for drops.

 

Deadline for entries will be Monday, February 1, 2016, at 6:30 P.M.  Please try to be prompt with deadlines.

 

Schedule times for the invite follow below.  The meet will run from approximately 8:00 A.M. through 4:30 P.M.  Registration will begin as early as 7:00 A.M. with all schools checking in no later than 7:30 A.M.  Quick meeting at 7:45 for drops.
