JHS Valentine’s Invitational 2016:

Saturday February 13^th, 2016

Registration begins at 7:45 a.m., draws start at 8:30 a.m., and Round I will begin at 9:00 a.m, Round II at 10:15, and Round III at 11:30. There will be three rounds with no finals.  We will use all 13 MSHSL categories.  We estimate that awards will begin at 1:30 p.m.  Awards this year are “Valentine’s Day” themed !! There will be a concession stand available to students throughout the morning and over the noon hour. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for coaches and judges in the judges' lounge.  If you need to reach us for any reason on the morning of the tournament, please call Tournament Manager Amy Peters at 952-393-8989.

We recommend that you send no more than six entries per category.  The cost is $7.00 per entrant.  Checks can be made to Jordan High School Speech.  Double entries will be allowed, except in Discussion.  Duo Interpretation is $7.00 per group.  

Judges:  You will need to bring one judge for every six (6) entries or fraction thereof.  Please make every effort to provide the required number of judges based on your entries prior to drops. One team coach should also consider assisting in the tab room.    

Entry Deadline:   Please submit your initial entries by Monday, February 8^th on SPEECHWIRE.  Please make necessary drops/adds by 7:30 am the day of the meet on SPEECHWIRE, or call or text me at 952-393-8989.

Time Schedule:

            7:45 – 8:30       Registration

            8:30                 Draws begin for Round 1 in the Media Center

            8:45                 Judges and Coaches Meeting in Room N116

            9:00                 Round 1

            9:45                 Draws begin for Round 2 in the Media Center

            10:15               Round 2

            11:00               Draws begin for Round 3 in the Media Center

            11:30               Round 3

            1:30                 Awards in the Auditorium

Other MSHSL competition info:  
Storytelling draws are from the first 10 stories.

Draws for Extemp. Reading Prose will be from the first 15 selections (through “The Attributes of Summer.”

Draws for Extemp. Reading Poetry will be from all the selections (poems will be grouped).

Discussion Tasks will come from January - February 6: State Topics (I. Youth/High School)  

Busing:  Please drop your students off at the Main entrance to the high school.

Team camps can be made in the commons.
