Greetings! The speech team at Illinois Central College invites you and your squad to attend the 2016 Charles F. Rolinski Memorial Speech Tournament, held January 9, 2016 on ICC's East Peoria Campus.  Entry and registration information is listed below. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. We look forward to seeing you in January!

GENERAL INFORMATION

FEES - $5.00 for each slot entered in the tournament.

JUDGES - Each school is expected to provide one judge for every SEVEN slots.  The fee for uncovered slots is $10.00 per slot.

PLEASE MAKE ALL CHECKS PAYABLE TO ICC SPEECH TEAM.

**Please be sure to include student names in your entry and identify novices**

 

ENTRY AND DROP DEADLINES

ALL entries must be made by 5:00 P.M. January 7th {Thursday} on SpeechWire. We will confirm all entries by that time.  NO ADDS will be accepted after the deadline!!!

Drops and substitutions can be made without charge until NOON on Friday January 13th. We will then close registration on SpeechWire and any drops need to be texted or emailed to Kari. This includes JUDGES!!

Drops after deadline but before registration will cost $5.00 per slot.

Drops at registration will be $10 per slot.  Dropped judges are $25.00

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE: Call or text in your drops to Kari on Saturday morning on your way to the tournament.  This will help us out tremendously and eliminate any drop fees.  Call 309.643.4438 with drops as soon as you know them.  Drop fees at registration will be assessed at the Tournament Director’s discretion!!

Each school is limited to 5 entries for each event.  A student may enter four events total; two different events per grouping.  However, due to time constraints, extempers may NOT be double entered in Group A.  The events will follow the IHSA guidelines.

*Extemp competitors will prep before each prelim and final round!

**Students competing in radio will need to arrive at the tournament with a script already prepared; there will be no radio prep material.

 

The top six competitors in each event {based on prelim ranks; speaker points will be used to break ties} will compete in a final round.  The top novice in each event will receive a special award.  A novice will be defined as a student who is in his/her first year of competition. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO MARK YOUR NOVICES AS SUCH.

Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to the six schools {1st, 2nd, 3rd Large school & Small School} who accumulate the greatest number of sweepstakes points.  Large and small school divisions will be based on the mean number of all schools calculated by the initial entry.  Sweepstakes points are earned in final rounds only and are based on the following format:

1st           12 pts

2nd          10 pts

3rd          8 pts

4th           6 pts

5th           4 pts

6th           2 pts
