Austintown Fitch Optimist Speech & Debate Tournament

You and your team are invited to the 47th Annual Austintown Optimist Forensic Tournament held at Austintown-Fitch High School.
This year the format will include a power round and a power sweepstakes award in individual events.
Date: Saturday, November 21st
Events: LD/PF Debate, Individual Events, and Student Congress
Entry Restrictions are open a long as there is enough room and numbers do not get too high- schools will be notified if this is the case
**Please limit your debate entries to 6 in each event**
PF will use the November NFL topic
LD will use the November / December NFL Topic
**There will be no Policy Debate at this tournament**
**NO students will be added the day of the tournament**
Registration : All teams are to register online at www.speechwire.com.
All contestants must be registered by Monday, November 16th at 3:00 PM
AFTER REGISTRATION CLOSES THERE WILL BE NO ADDS!
All judges must be registered by Friday, November 20th at 8:00 PM.
Awards: Trophies will be awarded to the top 7 in Debate and all finalists in individual events.
Judges: 1 judge for every 2 debate entries.
1 judge for every fraction of 5 in IE.
1 judge for each team bringing congress entries.
Drops in registration do not allow a drop in judges required. Any school that fails to bring their required number of judges will be fined $30.00 for each missing judge.
Fees: $3.50 per student. Team events count as two. Any drops in registration after the close of registration must be paid for.

Debate: 2.25 per win Speech: 1=3 2=2 3=1 Congress: Score of 6=3 5=2 4=1
Power Sweeps will follow OHSSL state sweeps guidelines. Congress and debate will not be part of Power Sweeps.
Schedule:
8:00-8:30 Re-register in the main office
8:30 General assembly for all participants, coaches, and judges in the Fitch cafeteria
9:00 Extemp draw/ Round one/ and debate shuttling to AMS
Power rounds in IE will begin immediately after round three tabulation
Lunch: Available after round 3: Youngstown Rules apply- DO NOT BRING IN OUTSIDE FOOD
Extemp: Prep room is in the Fitch media center off the cafeteria
Tabroom: Closed to everyone but the district committee.
Shuttle: A shuttle will take students to and from Austintown Middle School for Debate.
All judges and participants should report to the high school in the morning.
Note: There is a new road to the High School From Idaho Road, it is called Lloyd Loop, this will take you around the new Intermediate school and around Fitch. You will see an electronic Austintown Sign. You can also enter from Burkey Rd. or Raccoon Rd by the Austintown Library.
**WIFI note** At this time, our district does not have open/public WIFI. I am going to try to get some kind of WIFI to use tournament day-- but it will be likely that there WILL NOT BE WIFI at the tournament--- I will send out another email later to let everyone know for sure--- but at this time plan to not have it, and hopefully, we can work something out later that we may have it
