The College of New Jersey Society for Parliamentary Debate is proudly presenting our third annual High School Speech and Debate Invitational, on Saturday, November 7, 2015.

This year, under the direction of David Yastremski, we have changed our format to offer our novice and varsity competitors an educational and enriching experience.  We will be offering separate novice and varsity divisions in most of our events.

Our Novice Division will include: Dramatic Performance, Original Oratory, Extemporaneous Speaking, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Prose Reading, and Poetry Reading.
Our Varsity Division will include Programmed Oral Interpretation, Oral Interpretation of Literature (Prose/Poetry combined), Dramatic Performance (DI/HI combined), Duo Interpretation, Declamation, Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, Impromptu Speaking, Improvisational Speaking, Lincoln Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, and Congressional Debate.  If certain events/divisions do not reach an adequate entry number, we reserve the right to modify the division/event offering.

Students in speech events may double-enter.  Students in LD, PF, or Congress may not double-enter.

Declamation, while a Varsity event, will be offered for ninth or tenth grade students only. We will be using CFL Rules for Declamation, Oral Interpretation and Dramatic Performance events (including Novice Prose and Novice Poetry).  We are using NSDA rules for DUO, POI, OO, Extemp, LD, PF, and Congressional Debate.  We will be using NJSDL rules for Impromptu Speaking and Improvisational Speaking.

Student Judges with a minimum of two full years of experience may be used to cover NOVICE categories.  When entering their names, please indicate the student judges by listing their name as 'STUDENT - John Doe'.  This will help us delineate those student judges who cannot judge varsity divisions in the system.

Individual entrants may also attend provided they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 21.  We are working hard to provide an improved and exciting day of competition at TCNJ.  Many schools have already expressed interest in attending our tournament, so we hope you can too! We truly look forward to working with you all and putting on a great tournament.

Tournament Staff
The tournament will be run by our Tournament Director, David Yastremski, along with Miguel O'Malley and Jackson Ganem.  They will be assisted by several area coaches, educators, and the entire TCNJ Society for Parliamentary Debate, all of whom are extremely enthusiastic about this tournament and look forward to being part of your season.
We will feature the NSDA resolutions for November in PF and November/December in LD (for both divisions).
