The Chagrin Falls Speech and Debate Team and the Solon High School Speech and Debate Team cordially invite you to the first, of hopefully many, Chagrin/Solon Invitational held on Friday, November 13th and Saturday, November 14, 2015.

Where: All debate entries (LD, PF, Policy, and Congress) will compete on the 7-12 Campus in Chagrin Falls.  Busses may park in the lot next to the stadium.  Additional parking is behind the campus by the middle school entrance. Registration will take place outside of S141.  Students should report to their respective cafeterias that will be announced on Friday via email blast.  Judges should report to the Choir Room near the Tab Room.

All speech contestants will compete at Solon High School.   Please have your buses drop off at the Senior Commons entrance off Inwood Road.  They can then park at the back of the building near the Natatorium and Gymnasium.  Registration will take place in Room 115 by the media center just off the main hallway, competitors should report to the cafeteria, and judges should report to the open study hall across from the cafeteria.

Events:  We offer all events: IE, LD, PF, Policy, and Congress.  In addition, IE competitors have the opportunity to double enter, or compete in two speech events.  We also have the exciting privilege of being a National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) bid tournament in Drama, Duo, Humor, and Original Oratory.  In Policy Debate, our tournament will also serve as a PDQ for contestants advancing to quarterfinals.  This is also a bid tournament for the Ohio High School Speech League State Tournament – see www.ohssl.org for details.

Entry Fees: IE = $6 per contestant; Duo = $12.  LD = $6, PF/Policy = $12 per team, Congress = $3.

Judge Information: Please provide 1 judge for every 5 IE competitors, 1 for every 5 Congress contestants, and 1 judge for every 2 Debate entries.

Competition: IE will have 4-5 preliminary rounds, two-three on Friday evening (depending on how smoothly registration goes) and two on Saturday morning, before students will advance to Semifinals (Top 12) and Finals (Top 6). Depending on the number of students who enter each event anywhere from one to twelve students can potentially earn a bid to NIETOC which is being held in Denver, Colorado the weekend of May 13th.

LD & PF will compete in 5 preliminary rounds of debate, three on Friday and two on Saturday, before advancing to quarters, semis, and finals on Saturday.  Since we are aiming for a Policy PDQ, debaters in this event will compete in two rounds Friday evening (maybe three if we are cruising), and three rounds on Saturday morning before breaking to finals.  Congressional Debate will have 2 preliminary sessions on Friday, 2 more on Saturday morning, and a semifinal and final super congress on Saturday afternoon.
