The Southern and Northern Atlantic Forensic Union cordially invite you and your students to attend the SNAFU #8 Tournament as the second half of a swing with the Ernst Invitational Forensics Tournament at Northern Virginia Community College - Alexandria, January 24, 2016. Both tournaments will take place in Alexandria, Virginia on the campus of Northern Virginia CC - Alexandria, January 23-24, 2016. We will offer all 11 AFA events at both halves of the swing, as well as Parliamentary Debate. What follows is information that should make your trip to the swing easier to plan:

ENTRY INFORMATION
1. Teams are limited to 6 entries per event.
2. Students may enter a maximum of 3 events per bracket; 2 duos count as 2 events.
3. The deadline for entry is Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 5pm eastern.
4. Entry fees are $8 per event slot.
5. Please provide a qualified judge for every eight event slots.
6. Hired judges are available at $10 per uncovered slot.
7. Drop fees are original entry fee plus $10 penalty after entry deadline plus $20 if on Saturday or Sunday.
8. Dropped judges after the entry deadline will each be assessed a $100 fee in addition to standard judge fees.
9. To register for the SNAFU portion, please go to www.speechwire.com, scroll down to �SNAFU #8 at Northern Virginia Community College and request a password to submit your entry. You should receive by email your password information and can then enter your students and judges at the Speechwire website. You will receive a confirmation email detailing your entry at 6pm on 1/20/2016. Please be sure to check the entry you submitted and immediately correct any errors directly at the Speechwire website.
COMPETITION AND AWARDS
1. The SNAFU tournament will offer 4 rounds of preliminary competition and a final round.
2. Any event with more than 50 entries competing in both preliminary rounds will feature a semifinal round.
3. We will offer an award for the top six entries in each individual event (two awards for duos).
4. The top five individual sweeps winners will each receive an award (students must be entered in four events to be eligible).
5. The top five schools will each receive an award.
6. A swing sweepstakes award will be presented to the top overall student sweeps winner for both halves and the top overall school sweeps winner for both halves.
7. We will use AFA-style rules and tabulation.
