Student Congress:

  • Varsity Student Congeess legislation should remember the following information in regards to submission:
  • A school that enters competitors in the Congressional Debate division is required to submit at least one piece appropriately formatted legislation.
    • Legislation is tied to the student and not the school. Thus, each competitor may submit one piece of legislation. No competitor may serve as the author of more than one piece of legislation. 
    • Legislation must be submitted to Zach Becker at dogwoodlegislation@gmail.com no later than noon Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
    • Legislation will be posted no later than the February 2, 2016.
    • In order to expedite the release of the legislation packet, the League has adopted templates. They can be found on the website, but for ease they also have been posted to Speechwire.

Lincoln Douglas Topic:

  • Resolved: In the United States, private ownership of handguns ought to be banned.

Public Forum Debate:

  • Resolved: The United States federal government should adopt a carbon tax.

Lodging: Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott- Fayetteville North, 4249 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC 28311 - (919) 223-7867. The room rate of $99.00 a night includes hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi and access to the fitness center. The hotel has a rating of 9.5 out of 10 and no negative reviews according to Kayak. The hotel is only a year old and only about four miles from the school. Additionally, there are a umber of fast food and reasonable dining establishments nearby.
