Angola High School – Trine University Forensics Festival
January 9th, 2016


You are invited to join Angola High School on the beautiful campus of Trine University for a forensics’ festival!   We will be offering all 14 IHSFA Speech events plus POI and INF. 

Registration and Judging

Tournament Registration:  Registration for the tournament will be made via Speechwire.com. Registration will close Thursday, January 7th, at 6:00pm EST.  

Tournament Day Registration:  Tournament day registration will be from 7:30 a.m. through 8:30 a.m.  Round 1 Extemp. draw will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Round 1 competition will begin at 9:00am.

Registration and Arrival:  Registration will take place at Trine University in the Rick L. and Vicky L. James University Center, 720 Thunder Dr., Angola, IN, 46703.  Please park buses in large parking lot next to football stadium right across the street from the University center.  Maps are available in download section of Speechwire event page

Entries:  Entry numbers are unlimited.  Only top three finishers in each event will count towards Sweepstakes points.

Doubling:  Standard IHSFA doubling rules will be enforced.

Judges:  Please bring one judge for every 5 entries or fraction (6 entries = 2 judges).  

Drops:  Last minute emergency drops should be sent via text to Coach Bingaman at 812.614.0766 from 6:30-7:30 a.m. on the day of tournament.

Event Information

Events— All 14 Indiana speech events plus POI and INF.

  • Broadcasting:  Please bring 3 prepared items.
    • Round 1-5 Minute News Program (Music Lead-in/Lead-out, Commercial, Newscast)
    • Round 2-2 Minute editorial on the cost of education.
    • Round 3-On the spot. 2 Minutes to Prepare. 2 Minutes to Speak 
    • FINAL Repeat Round 1 News Program
  • Extemp:  Draw Rounds 1 & 3. Round 3 topic for Final.
  • Discussion:  Discussion artifacts will be available for download on Monday, January 4th.
  • POI and INF:  Will follow rules as outlined by NSDA.

Special Entertainment:  It wouldn’t be a festival without a party!  As the tabs are being counted, select students will be selected for an impromptu lip sync battle leading into the awards.

Awards:  Individual ribbons as well as team awards will be awarded.

Additional Information

Food:  Will be available all day.

Weather Delay:  Decisions regarding weather cancellations will sent out via text by 5:30 a.m. EST via the contact number you provide via Speechwire and tweeted from the Angola High School Speech and Debate Team’s account.
