Marian's Crusader Junior High Speech Tournament

Greetings:

 

The Marian High School Speech Team is hosting their annual Crusader Invitational for junior high students on Friday, April 17th, 2015.  This tournament offers 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students the opportunity to present speeches, learn from the competition, and to explore their speaking and acting abilities.  We hope to see you there!  

 

Please have your entries in by 8:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13th. Entries will ONLY be accepted using Speechwire. 

 

Awards: Trophies will be presented to the winners of first, second and third place.  Medals will be awarded to other finalists.  Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams. We will award up to 10th place for events that have over 30 speakers; otherwise awards will be given to the top 6 finishers. 

 

We will accept entries until we run out of rooms, you will be notified on or before April 9th if we have to limit your entry. 

 

If any category has less than 7 entries, we will drop that category. 

 

We will NOT accept adds on the day of the tournament. 

 

Because of online registration, your entry will not be verified by before the tournament date. 

 

Competitors may double enter (except for extemp), no triple entries please.  

 

We encourage parents to view their children. There will be a speech team member with the schedule and a list of codes in our student center so that each parent can find out where and when their child is speaking. 

 

PLEASE BRING 1 QUALIFIED JUDGE FOR EVERY FIVE ENTRIES. Please make sure your judges know what they are doing as there is only a brief judges meeting. It would be helpful to print out a copy of the ballots and an instruction sheet prior to the tournament for your judges. If you need to hire a judge, the cost is $25. If you have a large entry, I may not be able to logistically use your judges. I will notify you prior to the contest date if all judges are not needed.

 

All judges and coaches will receive a complimentary dinner ticket as a thank you for attending and working hard so that students may have this educational opportunity. 

 

Please make checks payable to Marian High School; one check per school please. 

 

Dinner tickets will be distributed at Registration.
