Welcome to the registration site for the CHSAA Colorado State Speech and Debate Championship Tournament!

Many thanks to Paul Angelico, Bud Ozzello, Audra Cathy, and the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) for their continued support of speech and debate activities in the state of Colorado!

Tournament Information

Tournament Date: March 20-21, 2015

Location: Douglas County High School, 2842 Front St, Castle Rock, CO 80104

Qualification: Students qualify to compete at the Colorado State Tournament based on their performance at the regional qualifying tournaments.

Schedule: The tentative schedule has been posted on the schedule link on this website.

Registration: Registration must be completed at www.speechwire.com by March 9, 2015. Late, missing, or incomplete registrations will result in a $25 late fee.

Registration Procedures:

  • Go to www.speechwire.com
  • If you do not have an account, create an account.
  • Go to "Tournament Calendar"
  • Go to "CHSAA State Tournament" and click on the link.
  • Register your team.
  • If you are registering a District Champions (1st Qualifier), please place them in the "A" slot on your entry in the given event.
  • For the Interpretation of Literature events, enter the title and author information for each selection. Remember that competitors are required to bring a copy of the original source to the tournament.
  • For Original Oratory, enter the title of speech and in parenthesis identify the topic area. (i.e. " One Word "(use of language))
  • A typed manuscript of each qualifying oration must be submitted to CHSAA (mail or email) by March 9.

 

Extemp Topic Areas: The order of topic areas for the tournament will be drawn at registration on Friday morning and announced for all competitors.

Debate Resolutions:

CX Debate 2014-2015 Topic
Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its non-military exploration and/or development of the Earth's oceans.

Lincoln Douglas Debate March/April 2015 Topic
Resolved: Just governments ought to ensure food security for their citizens.

Public Forum Debate March 2015 Topic
Resolved: In the United States, students should be guaranteed two years of free tuition to a community or technical college.
