Rossville High School is pleased to invite you to attend our speech tournament on Saturday, January 24, 2015.

Team Registration: The deadline for the registration form is Monday, January 19 by 3:00 pm. Please register on Speechwire. I will send a final confirmation after all entries have been received.

Schedule:

•          Registration begins at 7:00am.

•          Rounds will begin at 8:00 and 8:30. They will be flighted to accommodate doublers in Radio and Discussion.

•          Extemp draw will be 1st and 3rd round. 3rd round draw will be used for FINAL Rd.

Events: Our tournament will offer humorous, dramatic, declamation, discussion, prose, poetry, original oratory, impromptu, international extemp, domestic extemp, scripted duo, memorized duo, original performance, improvisational duo, and radio.

Entry Limits:  Teams may enter a maximum of 48 entries with a limit of 6 students in each event. Additional non-sweeps entries will not be accepted. Teams may not enter a second non-sweeps team. At this point, there will not be a cap on the maximum # of total entries. However, if the tournament grows too large, we will have to cap at 400 entries due to classroom availability. FINALS will be clean slate.

Judges: Each team will provide one judge for every five entries or fraction thereof. That means 6 entries = 2 judges.

Doubling: Contestants may double at their own risk, with the following exceptions:

•          All events MAY double at their own risk.

•          Duo partners may not double in another duo event.

•          NO tripling.

•          NO drops will be picked up.

•          All events will go 3 preliminary rounds and a final, unless weather becomes a problem and we need to get our guests on the road safely earlier than anticipated.

•          News broadcast (two minutes) competitors bring news broadcast.

•          Commercial for product or service (one minute) Competitors bring a commercial for a fictitious breakfast cereal.

Seminar Leaders (equivalent of a student moderator) will be determined by the participants in the round. Discussion rounds will be staggered, so double-entered discussers should attend their other event first.
