Hill- Murray Early Bird Speech Meet

We are happy to offer a fun day of great competition to kick off the 2015 tournament season. The Hill-Murray Early Bird Meet will include all 13 MSHSL categories and will run with three preliminary rounds and a final round. Meet specific information is listed below.
Registration Information and Deadlines: The entry deadline is Wednesday January 21st at 5 PM when all charges will be set. Any drops or adds after the 5 PM Wednesday deadline will be assessed a drop fee of $6
Scheduling: This will be a site-scheduled tournament. All changes to your registration should be done on Speechwire by 8 AM Saturday morning. If you do not have access to Speechwire in the morning, you may do drops on site by the 8 AM deadline or, if necessary, you may call 612-781-2528. Meet Schedule: Registration will operate from 7-8:00AM. Even if you have not physically arrived at Hill-Murray by 8, make sure your Speechwire information is correct by the 8 AM deadline.
First round will be posted by 8:30 Round 1: Draws begin at 9:00 AM Speaking begins at 9:30 AM Round 2: Draws begin at 10:30 Speaking begins at 11:00 AM Round 3: Draws begin at 12:00 PM Speaking begins at 12:30 PM Finals will be posted as soon as possible after the completion of round 3. The goal is to start finals at 2:00 PM Awards will begin approximately 3:30 PM Buses should be order for 4:00 PM
Entry Fee and Limits: $6.00 per entry (duos count as 1 entry) Checks should be made payable to Hill-Murray School There are no entry limits for teams or categories. Double entries are allowed in every category except discussion. Only one draw event per participant.
Judging Requirements: Teams are required to bring 1 judge per 6 entries (or fraction thereof). Teams with unfulfilled judges spots will be assessed a $75.00 fee. It is expected that all judges will be available for the three preliminary rounds and the final round. It may be possible to hire an unaffiliated judge, please contact Renae Elert as soon as possible if you believe you will need to hire a judge.
Tournament Format: The Hill-Murray Early Bird Speech Meet will consist of three preliminary rounds and a final round (top 6). Any category that is high in registration numbers will have both a regular finals (1-6) and an honors finals (7-12).
Category Specifics: Extemp. Reading (Prose): Stories 1-7 Extemp Reading (Poetry): Stories 1-20 Storytelling: Stories 1-7 Discussion: Area III of the outline- Economic Issues
Concessions: A variety of food will be available for purchase throughout the day for participants in the cafeteria. It would be VERY helpful if students would bring small bills (ones and fives) for purchasing food.
