Westside Warrior Invitational
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Nebraska. View manager contact information Dear Colleague, You and your students are cordially invited to the 2015 Westside Warrior Invitational Tournament to be held on Friday, January 16, 2015. Registration will be at Westside High School on Friday at 3 p.m. We will be running nine events with two rounds and finals. Round ribbons will be given out for the top three places in each section and trophies and medals will be given for the top six places. If we have enough entries, we will include honors and champ finals (12 places). We will once again be offering Duo Impromptu acting. See the Events Info page for more info on this entertaining event. To enter, choose Improv. Acting for interested students. They will be randomly paired with other students at the tournament. We will also be having a Poetry Slam between final rounds and awards. If you have students who are interested in this, please let me know. The rules are listed on the events page also. You may enter poetry slam students for free. Winners will not earn sweepstakes points, but they will get fun prizes! Pizza and other food will be served along with a fully-stocked judge's lounge. Please let your team know! Last year we played host to high caliber speakers. We anticipate an equally diverse field of entrants this year. We look forward to seeing you in January for some intense competition! Jeff Grinvalds 402-343-2712 INDIVIDUAL EVENTS INFORMATION 1. Students may enter two events. 2. We will offer competition in nine events. 3. We are limiting schools to 5 students per event.
Extemporaneous Original Oratory Duo Interpretation (NFL) Informative Speaking Entertainment Speaking Humorous Interpretation Dramatic Interpretation Poetry Interpretation
Impromptu Duet Two students from competing schools paired at random will work together to create a cohesive duet acting interpretation. They will have 3-5 minutes to prepare a scene based on an object, a setting, and characters. They will then present for 3-7 minutes. Students who place in finals will split sweepstakes points between teams. This event is experimental and is not subject to standard fees.
Non-Sweepstakes Event:
Poetry Slam: Students will perform one original poem of no more than three-minutes in length. This event will be held in the lull time between final rounds and awards. Winners will be chosen by the audience and fun prizes will be awarded. Send me a list of interested students. Right now the entry is open to anyone, but if numbers become to large, I will have to limit the entries.
Entry Fees Individual Event entry: $7.00 per entry Entries will only be accepted through Speechwire. All entries must be submitted by Tuesday, January 13. Late entries will only be accepted only if there is space Judges We request that all judges be competent and experienced. One judge per every five Individual Event entries. $15.00 for each uncovered entry.
