The Southern and Northern Atlantic Forensic Union cordially invite you and your students to attend the Seton Hall University/ SNAFU #4 Swing, 2014.   Both tournaments will take place in South Orange, New Jersey on the campus of Seton Hall University.  We will offer all 11 AFA events at both halves of the swing as well as Parliamentary Debate at SNAFU and Impromptu Sales at Seton Hall.  What follows is information that should make your trip to the swing easier to plan:

ENTRY INFORMATION
 
 1. There is a limit of 6 team entries in any event.
 2. Students may enter a maximum of 3 events per bracket; 2 duos count as 2 events.
 3. The deadline for entry is Wednesday, Novermber 5, 2014  at 5pm eastern.
 4. Entry fees are $10 per event slot at Seton Hall, $8 per event slot at SNAFU
 5. Please provide a qualified judge for every eight event slots.
 6. Hired judges are available at $15 per uncovered slot at Seton Hall, $10 per uncovered slot at SNAFU
 7. Drop fees are original entry fee plus $10 penalty after entry deadline, plus $25 if on Saturday, or $20 on Sunday.
 8. Dropped judges after the entry deadline will each be assessed an $80 fee for Seton Hall, and $125 at registration; a $100 fee will be assessed in addition to standard judge fees for SNAFU.
 9. To register for the SNAFU portion, please go to www.speechwire.com, scroll down to “SNAFU #4 at Seton Hall University” and request a password to submit your entry. You should receive by email your password information and can then enter your students and judges at the Speechwire website. You will receive a confirmation email detailing your entry at 6pm on 11/5/2014. Please be sure to check the entry you submitted and immediately correct any errors directly at the Speechwire website.
 
 COMPETITION AND AWARDS:
 
Seton Hall:
We will present awards to all elimination round participants.  We will also provide awards for school sweepstakes and individual speakers. To be eligible for Individual Speaker, contestants must compete in at least 2 of the 3 genres of forensics (LP, PA and Interp) and in at least tgree events.
a.  In preliminary rounds, each first place rank is worth 3 points, each second place rank is worth 2 points, each third place rank is worth 1 point.  Only the top three point earners from each school in each event will count.
b.  Non-advancing semi-finalists are worth 2 points.
c.  Finalists will receive 12 points for first place, 10 points for second, 8 points for third, 7 points for fourth, 5 points for fifth, and 3 points for sixth.
 
SNAFU:
1. The SNAFU tournament will offer 4 rounds of preliminary competition and a final round.
2. Any event with more than 50 entries competing in both preliminary rounds will feature a semifinal round.
3. We will offer an award for the top six entries in each individual event (two awards for duos).
4. The top five individual sweeps winners will each receive an award (students must be entered in four events to be eligible).
5. The top five schools will each receive an award.
6. A swing sweepstakes award will be presented to the top overall student sweeps winner for both halves and the top overall school sweeps winner for both halves.
7. We will use AFA-style rules and tabulation.
