On behalf of the New York City Urban Debate League, the Middle School Quality Initiative of the NYC Department of Education and Brooklyn Technical High School you are cordially invited to the NYCUDL Middle School Quality Initiative Debate Tournament #2 for Public Forum on October 18, 2014 for a day of exciting, fun and intense debate excitement.

 

We will offer the debate format of Public Forum Debate featuring three rounds of debate.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR ALL ENTRIES IS 5PM – JANUARY 7TH, 2015

 

We will offer the debate format of Public Forum Debate featuring three rounds of debate.

 

Points will be on the scale of 30 points.

 

We will provide awards for top speakers, top teams and sweepstakes for top schools.

 

Resolution for the MSQI tournament will be based on the nuclear power topic (Word Generation - Unit 2.09) - Resolved: That the benefits of nuclear power outweigh the potential risks

 

 

IMPORTANT DATES

 

 

Check-in / Day of tournament registration: Saturday, January 10th, by 9:30AM (the latest) 

 

Once registration closes (at the beginning of the tournament) – those that are late will forfeit the first round and will debate round 2 – they can observe and flow debates in round 1

 

WE MUST EMPHASIZE THIS RULE IN ORDER TO HAVE AN EFFICIENT, TIMELY AND WELL-MANAGED TOURNAMENT. PLEASE OBLIGE TO THIS REQUEST.

Via Mass Transit

From the Bronx:

  • Take # 2, 4 or 5 train to the Nevins Street station in Brooklyn.
  • Take the D,B train to Dekalb Avenue in Brooklyn.

From Manhattan:

  • Take A or C to West 4th Street, transfer to B train. Take B train to Dekalb Avenue Station in Brooklyn
  • Take C train to Lafayette Avenue station in Brooklyn
  • Take the N Q R B to Dekalb Avenue station in Brooklyn
  • Take the #2, 3, 4 or 5 train to Nevins Street station in Brooklyn.

From Brooklyn

  • Take the A or C to Hoyt-Schermerhorn station in Brooklyn, transfer to Queens bound G train to Fulton Street.
  • Take the N, B, Q or R train to Dekalb Avenue.
  • Take the #2, 3, 4, or 5 train to Nevins street
  • Take the G train to Fulton Street.
  • Take the F train to 4th Avenue transfer to the R train. Exit R train at Dekalb Avenue Station in Brooklyn.
  • Take the J or L train to the Eastern Parkway station transfer to C train. Take C train to Lafayette Avenue station.
  • Take the J or L train to the Eastern Parkway station transfer to A or C.
  • Take A or C to Hoyt-Schermerhorn and transfer to Queens-bound G train , Exit G train at Fulton Street station in Brooklyn.
 

From Queens

  • Take G train to Fulton Street in Brooklyn.
  • Take #7 train to Grand Central Station transfer to #4 or 5.Take #4 or 5 train to Nevins Street station in Brooklyn.
  • Take the E,or V to 23rd Ely & transfer to G train. Take G train to Fulton Street.
  • Take R to Dekalb Ave station in Brooklyn.
