Entries are due:  Wednesday, January 14 by 5pm EST.

 

Judges:  1 for every 5 entries or fraction thereof. Please remember the Head Coach attending with the team should be listed as the First Judge.

 

Entries:  Teams may enter up to FIVE entries in each event with a team limit of 60 entries.  I will accept a non-sweeps entry of up to 15 additional entries with a cap of 3 non-sweeps entries per event.

 

Doubling:  All events may double enter with the exception of Discussion and Congress.  Duo partners may not double in another duo.

 

Sweepstakes:  Sweepstakes points awarded on the 8 point scale. Please note, however, team sweeps will be based on the top 2 finishers in each event for a team. (e.g. Team A finishes 3rd, 4th, 5th in an event. Only the 3rd and 4th place individuals earn points toward team award.)  The purpose of this method is to offer a more level playing field between small and large teams.

 

Event Rules:

 

Broadcasting:  Contestants should bring a 3 minute newscast; a 1 minute commercial for a college/university; a 2 minute editorial on an issue facing higher education. Final round will be ON-THE-SPOT.

 

Discussion:  Artifacts are available to download from the registration page.

 

Extemp:  Will Draw for Rounds 1 and 3. Use round 3 topic for finals.

 

Congress:  Morning session will discuss IHSFA legislation 5, 8, 13. Afternoon session will be 2, 9, 11.  Presiding Officers will be elected in chamber.

 

GENERAL NOTES:

 

Breakfast items, snacks, drinks, lunch, etc. will be available all day for purchase.  

 

Team registration will begin at 7:15 am with Round 1 beginning at 8:30am EST.
