ASAP Awards
Awards:
Awards will be given for 1st-6th place and the top novice in each event. Novice designates students with no intercollegiate forensics experience prior to August 1, 2014. First, second, and third place awards will be given in individual and team sweepstakes at each half of the tournament. In addition, overall swing awards will also be given for team and individual sweepstakes in first, second, and third place. An overall team sweepstakes awards will also be given to the top community college (pending at least two entries).
Team Sweepstakes:
Team points will be awarded according to a student’s placement in final rounds (10 points for 1st place, 8 points for 2nd place, 6 points for 3rd place, 4 points for 4th place, 2 points for 5th place, 1 point for 6th place, and 1⁄2 point for 7th place and below). Contestants tied in preliminary rank and rate will advance to the final round. Ties in final rounds will be broken by the majority of 1st place rankings, judges’ preference, reciprocals, and then rating points. Ties in team points will be broken on the number of finals, followed by the highest number of finishes in finals (1st’s, 2nd’s, 3rd’s, etc.).
Individual Sweepstakes:
Individual Sweepstakes is open to anyone entered in the tournament. Any awarded points a student acquires will count toward the individual sweepstakes award. Indy sweeps points mirror the system for determining team points. Ties will be broken on number of 1st place finishes in finals (followed by 2nd, etc).
Judges:
One judge is required for every 6 entries. All judges are expected to be knowledgeable of current rules. Please make every attempt to bring enough judges to cover your entry. All judges are expected to be available for final rounds.
Entry Deadline:
All entries must be received by Tuesday, September 30th, at 5:00 p.m.
Tournament Fees:
Entries are $7 per slot and $12 per uncovered slot. Fees will be assessed on the basis of information received as of 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1st.
