Dear Speech Colleagues-
Once again, Speech Season is upon us, the only time of the year where it is found socially acceptable to: discuss politics, tell heart wrenching stories about children dying, talk to imaginary audiences, and wake up at 4:00 in the morning on a Saturday. Keeping with the theme of abnormalities, Auburn Creative and Performing Arts High School would like to invite you to our 3rd Annual Top of the State Tournament, where we provide teams with Next In finals assuring plenty of awards. (And cookies to take home too!)

DATE: Saturday, January 31st

STRUCTURE:   The tournament will offer three rounds of preliminary competition and a final round in all fourteen IHSA events. Round 1 will begin at 8:30, Extemp and Radio will begin prep at 7:45 for Round 1.

ENTRY:                        Feel free to enter as many speakers in each event as you like (your entry fee will be based on your total number of entries).  Team sweepstakes will be determined using your top two speakers in each event.  Teams will register online using SpeechWire.
        Fees:              1 - 10 entries:             $75
                            10 – 28 entries:         $125
                            29 – 42 entries:          $175
                             43 – 56 entries:          $225
                              57+ entries:                $300

JUDGES:                      Each team is expected to bring one qualified judge for every six entries.  If you wish to bring extra entries, you will be asked to bring extra judges as well.  Hired judges may be available at a cost of $75 per judge.

EVENTS: We will be hosting several other events along with the standard 14 IHSA events; these will include: Improvisational Duet Acting, Wretched Interp, Spoken Word, and Original Poetry and Prose.
