Hello Coaches,

I am pleased to invite you and your team to the first annual Bishop Dwenger Speech Tournament.

Entries:        Entries are due by Tuesday, February 3rd at 5:00 P.M. After that, only name changes and drops will be accepted. All registration will be done on Speechwire.com
       

Judges: Please bring one judge for every five entries or fraction thereof (6 entries = 2 judges). 

Events:  All IHSFA Speech Events will be offered.
All events will have three preliminary rounds and a final.

Divisions:       Only Varsity will be offered at this meet.

Caps:  As we are a smaller school, I have limited the total number of entries to 225.  Each team is also limited to a maximum of 30 entries.  After we have reached our maximum capacity we will no longer be able to accept entries. 

Broadcasting:

        Round 1 = Original Commercial (1 min.) Topic:  Create an ad spot for a brand of insurance.
        Round 2 = Editorial (2 min.) Topic: "What is the biggest issue facing the 114th United States Congress and why?" Students bring this to the meet.      
        Round 3 = Newscast (3 min.) Students bring this to the meet.
         FINAL  = On-the-Spot (2 min.)

Discussion: General Topic: The Russian Federation
Subtopics and questions for each round will be given prior to each round in the new IHSFA Discussion format.

Impromptu Topics

Round One: Word
Round Two: Quote
Round Three: Author
Round Four: Current Event

Doubling: Students may not double in Discussion.  Extemp students may only double in Impromptu or Original Oratory. Extemp students should all report to the prep room first, speak, and be excused to go to their second event.  Radio contestants may double but should report to radio first. Both duo partners may double, but not in another duo (including a duo O.P.)  Everyone doubles at their own risk; no rounds will be repeated.

7:00-8:00 am:   Registration
8:00am: Extemp Prep
8:30am:  Round 1 for all events.

Awards:  Awards will be given to the top 5 teams. Sweepstakes points will be awarded on the 7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis. Because our school does not have an auditorium, the awards ceremony will take place in the cafeteria.
