The College of New Jersey’s Society for Parliamentary Debate is proudly presenting our second annual High School Speech and Debate Invitational, on Saturday, November 1, 2014. This tournament is open to any speech and debate program, regardless of location.

Individual entrants may also attend provided they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 21.  Many schools have already expressed interest in attending our tournament, so we hope you can too! We truly look forward to working with you all and putting on a great tournament.
 
Tournament Staff
The tournament will be run by our Tournament Directors, Miguel O’Malley and Gabrielle Okun.  They will be assisted by the entire TCNJ Society for Parliamentary Debate, all of whom are extremely enthusiastic about this tournament and look forward to being part of your season.  Zach Myshkoff, the TCNJ Debate President, will handle all aspect of your registration through Speechwire.

Congress

Note: all Speech is Varsity with top novice awards.

We reserve the right to place and change caps on the number of entries if necessary. We will offer final rounds in all speech divisions, and breaks to semi-finals for debate. This may change depending on the number of entries and what time allows. Also, double entry in speech is allowed but not in debate or congress. Please specify if a student is a novice, since we will have top novice awards.

We will feature the NFL resolutions for October in PF and September/October in LD.

Registration:
Please make all entries by Monday, October 27th by 11:59 p.m. Registration will be handled via Speechwire.

Deadline for all drops: Thursday, October  30th at 11:59 p.m.

Fees:
All single entries are $10.00 each.  Duo and Public Forum entries are $20.00 each.  Each school, will also be charged a $35.00 school fee.

Fees can be seen on Speechwire and invoices can be printed from there.
Please provide payment on the day of the tournament in the form of cash or check. If a situation arises where you cannot do this, please communicate this with us through email as early as possible. We want you all there so we will accommodate requests to the best of our ability. All checks should be made payable to “TCNJ Society for Parliamentary Debate”.  

Awards
We will have trophies for all semi-finalists in all categories and levels of debate and all finalists in all speech categories as well the top novice in each category. We will also have top 5 school awards.

Food
Food will be available for purchase all day.  We will provide an assortment of bagels for breakfast, along with hot coffee, hot tea, and hot chocolate.  Lunch will be pizza.  An assortment of snacks will also be available all day.  

Judges will be provided a wristband which will provide them access to the judging lounge which will have free food. The judges lunch will be a delicious catered Italian banquet.  

Please try to be on time in the morning. We know it isn’t easy but if college kids can wake up on a Saturday morning before 7 a.m. and prepare, so can you!

There will be further information about parking for cars and buses as the day approaches.
