Please join us at the Buffalo Grove 14th Annual Hypothermic Tournament of Mittens on January 10^th, 2015.

Events:

Competition will be held in fifteen individual events--- yes: Duo!

DDA, DI, Duo, EX, HDA, HI, IMP, INFO, OD, OC, OO, PO, PR, RS, SOS

Extemp and Radio will prep twice and for finals; they may use either preliminary round script for their third round speech.  We are allowing electronic retrieval for Extemp; we'll have prep monitors to facilitate this.  We will allow students to use tablets or laptops, but they may not use smartphones for this task. If students are found accessing Internet sources at the tournament or using pre-written speeches stored on their electronic devices, the monitor will inform the tab room and the student in violation may be disqualified.

A student may not double enter in Radio and Extemp.

Impromptu: New IHSA rules. There will not be any words used as prompts.

Please submit ten (10) Extemp topics and ten (10) Impromptu topics via SpeechWire prior to December 15^th.

Duo Acting: We will be following the NSDA rules.

Time:

We will follow IHSA rules on all other events.  There will be no penalties for time, except in Radio Speaking.

Judges:

1 qualified judge per 6 entries (if incremental, please round up).

Need to purchase a judge?  Please let us know.  We have a limited number of judges available for a fee of $120 for the day.  A portion of these proceeds will go to the Loyola Speech Team.

You may triple enter competitors; however, the schedule will be tight and a round cannot be held up for a late student. In finals, a contestant may be triple entered.

Entry fee: based on number of entries, not on full teams

1-15   entries $115.00

16-30 entries $175.00

31-44 entries $250.00

45-58 entries $330.00

Awards:

We will hold Final & Next In rounds.

Individual awards will be given to all final round and next in round competitors.

Team awards will be based on preliminary rounds.

The tab room will calculate team scores based on the top two competitors in each event.

This year we will be once again taking donations of mittens and winter outerwear for charity.  The items collected will be donated in the name of every school that participates to WINGS, a shelter and resource for homeless and abused women and children.  The team that donates the most items will be recognized in awards with the “Warmest Heart” award.  Please see guidelines for this award on SpeechWire documents file.

Concessions:

Concessions, both breakfast and lunch, will be available throughout the day.

Online Registration will close on Saturday, January 10^th at 6:30am.  All entry changes after that point need to be called or sent by TEXT to Tracey Repa at 847-826-9364.
