2014 MDL Urban Debate National Qualifier
Hosted by West Allis Central High School
Saturday, February 15, 2013

What: Join us for one of the most exciting tournaments of the year. The top two teams in the Varsity Division will receive an all expenses paid trip to represent the MDL at the 2014 Urban Debate National Championship in Washington D.C. Meanwhile, the tournament serves as a warm-up to the 2013 MDL City Championship in March at Marquette University.

Where: West Allis Central High School, 8516 W Lincoln Ave, West Allis, WI 53227

Registration: Will be open on Speechwire soon (hopefully this afternoon). I'm just waiting for SW to fulfill our order, then we should be good to go.

Who can compete: Everyone. We'll be offering both a Novice and Varsity division.

That said, anyone can debate in the varsity division, but only students who have met the participation standard (debating at least four MDL tournaments in the JV/Open/Varsity division)may qualify for the final championship round. Feel free to ask if you're wondering how many tournaments your students attended (note the qualifier can count as one of the four).

Schedule: Attached. The final round will take place following our regular awards ceremony and will finish until around 7pm. Students and coaches who are not competing in the round are free to leave (or stay and watch!).

Meals: Per usual, we'll have breakfast and lunch. Shoot me an email if you have any questions.

Argument restrictions: Novice debaters will be limited to arguing novice packet evidence. I'll send out another email about this shortly.

Disclosure: Varsity disclosure rules are in effect. Please send me (or post on the argument Wiki) any new varsity 1ACs, advantages and/or plan text changes by Wednesday night.

Big thanks to Sheri Turnacliff and West Allis Central for accommodating this one. Feel free to shoot me any questions should they pop-up, and be on the lookout for more info this week and next.
