We are pleased to invite you to attend the Minnesota State University, Mankato High School Speech Tournament held Saturday February 22, 2014.  Our tournament features novice final rounds, double entry and sweepstakes awards for large and small school entries.

ENTRIES

Students may DOUBLE ENTER in two events. Double-entered students are responsible for getting to both events during rounds.  Students should inform their judges if they are double entered.

FINAL ROUNDS

We have two sets of final rounds—open and novice.  All students are eligible for Open Final Rounds; if enough novice students remain we hold separate Novice Final Rounds.  A novice is any student in their first or second year of competition. Open Final Rounds are the 6 students with the best ranks from preliminary rounds.  We break ties on head to head match-ups in prelims. Novice Final Rounds will have one judge.

AWARDS

All finalists receive awards appropriate to their final round placement. Sweepstakes trophies are awarded based on preliminary ranks of 1st, 2nd and 3rd, as well as placings in Open Final rounds.  We award two sets of team sweepstakes trophies based on entry size. 

FEES AND JUDGES

All schools will pay a base school fee of $10.00.  The individual entry fee for all events other than duo is $6.00. Duo entries are $12.00. Each school is required to provide one full-time qualified judge for each six (6) students entered. Uncovered entries will be charged $15.00 per entry.  Please indicate when entering your judges if a school provided judge is "clean" to judge students from your program.

DEADLINES

Entries are due Wednesday February 19th at 5:00 p.m. Base fees will be assessed at that time.  However, Speechwire will remain open for you to make changes up until the start of registration on Saturday.  WE URGE YOU TO UPDATE CHANGES BEFORE SATURDAY MORNING.  This helps us provide the most accurate schematic possible at the start of the tournament.
