Dear Speech Coaches:

 

 

You and your team are invited to participate in Prior Lake’s Speech Invitational on Saturday, February 1, 2014.   We hope you will be able to join us!

 

 

Registration begins at 7:15 A.M., draws start at 8:45, and Round I will begin at 9:15.  There will be three rounds with a final this year.  We will use all 13 MSHSL categories.  We estimate that finals will begin at 1:30 P.M and awards at 4:00. There will be a concession stand available to students throughout the morning and over the noon hour. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for coaches and judges in the judges' lounge, courtesy of our Patron of the Arts and Activities (PAA) group.  If you need to reach us for any reason on the morning of the tournament, please call Tournament Manager Nick Ingles 952-454-2156.

 

We recommend that you send no more than six entries per category.  The cost is $7.00 per entrant.  Checks can be made to Prior Lake High School Speech and delivered on tournament day or mailed to PLHS, 7575 150th Street West, Savage, MN 55378.  Double entries will be allowed, with the exception of Discussion.  Duo Interpretation is $7.00 per group. 

 

 

Judges:  You will need to bring one judge for every seven (7) entries or fraction thereof. Uncovered judge slots will cost $75 each.  Please make every effort to provide the required number of judges based on your entries prior to drops.  A representative team coach/coaches should also consider assisting in the tab room.

 

 

Entry Deadline:  Due to available classroom space, we may need to limit the number of people at our tournament.  For that reason, please consider registering early and register your initial entries by Monday, January 28th. You then can make any necessary drops/adds online by Thursday, January 31 at 3:00 P.M.  Drops after this deadline will be charged the registration fee.  The tournament manager will run the schedule Thursday afternoon.  Emergency drops can be made at the registration table the morning of the tournament. 

  

 

Other MSHSL competition info:  Storytelling draws are from the first 10 stories; draws for Extemp. Reading will be from the first 10 selections of prose and the first 20 poems. Discussion Topics I will be used.
