Dear Speech Coach,

The cooperative speech program of Buffalo High School & St. Michael-Albertville High School—affectionately known as “St. Buffaville”—cordially invites you and your students to the 24^th Annual Bison Speech Invitational.

DATE:  Saturday, March 1, 2014

LOCATION: Buffalo High School; Use the South Entry (#2) by the flagpoles.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES:  We will accept entries on Speech Wire through Wednesday, February 26 @ 6:00 p.m.  All fees will be based on entry numbers at that time.

FORMAT:  Three rounds and a final in all thirteen MSHSL speech events.  We will allow flexibility in certain categories for time due to a number of schools who will be prepping for NFL events.  This will be outlined in the judges meeting right before the tournament.

ENTRIES:  Up to six entries per category.  Double entries will be allowed—though we ask that this not be overdone due to space considerations.  Students in draw events will have to work out double entering within the draw schedule.   Please note we will not run Discussion Rounds on a time delay.

JUDGES:  One judge per seven entries or fraction thereof.  We will not have additional judges available.  If you know you will have unaffiliated judges, make sure this is indicated on the registration form.  It helps in scheduling.  If a judge bails, you are responsible for finding a replacement!

FEES:  $6.00 per entry.  Duo counts as one entry and will be $7 per entry.

DRAW CATEGORIES/DISCUSSION:  All stories and poems will be included in the draws. Discussion tasks will be taken from Section II of the outline: Political Considerations..

AWARDS:  Medals to the top six places in each category.  Honorable Mention ribbons to those who just miss the final rounds.  Team trophies will be awarded for small and large school entries.

CONCESSIONS:  The usual concessions will be available.
