Top of the State

Auburn Creative and Performing Arts High School Speech Team enthusiastically invites you to their Top of the State Speech Tournament on February 1st.
The tournament will offer three rounds of preliminary competition in all fourteen IHSA events.
There will also be competition in Improvised Duet Acting, Original Prose or Poetry Interpretation, Wretched Interpretation, and a brand new event "Musical Theatre". (For this event, entries prepare any song in the genre of Musical Theatre. It may be a solo, duet, or ensemble. Entries are to come prepared with the karaoke version of the song on a CD and a boombox will be provided. Time limit for this event is 8 minutes. This will be an open event and and the final competition round will be performed for all before the awards ceremony.)
If 5 or more schools would like to participate in PIR, it will be held.
There will be three preparations for Radio and Extemp. Varsity and Novice finals will be held.
Awards will be given to finalists in each event. Sweepstakes awards will be given to the top five schools in Varsity and the top three in Novice.
Top ten outstanding speaker students will be awarded medallions. A student may enter up to five events. Remember students are responsible for getting to each event in the hour and a half round.
Entry fee for each team is $150.00. A team may bring up to three entries per event. Teams may bring additional entries at $5 per entry (duets will count as one entry).
A team must bring one judge per six entries. (If your team has 48 entries, you must bring 8 judges.)
The tournament will start with registration at 7:00 am, first round prep 7:45 am and round one at 8:30 am.
