NJFL Northern Illinois League Middle School Tournament
Host School: Buffalo Grove High School

Tournament Host: Buffalo Grove High School

 

You are cordially invited to the NJFL Northern Illinois League Middle School Tournament.   Buffalo Grove High School will host the tournament on Saturday; May 3rd, 2014.

Buffalo Grove High School: 1100 West Dundee Road, Buffalo Grove, IL. 60089.

Grades 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th grade students are invited to compete. 

High School students are invited to judge.

 

 

Logistics:

Students should be dropped off in the back entrance of the school where busses load (directly across from the Football Field).  Registration will be in the in the main hall leading to the English Fine Arts Area, students will be there to guide you.  Students can relax in the Cafeteria until rounds start.

Fees: Please make checks payable to Buffalo Grove High School.

$5 per event per entry fee

Teams and clubs should belong to NJFL 

 

Judging requirement:

Lincoln Douglas: 1 judge per 2 entries

Public Forum:  1 judge per 2 teams

Congress: 1 Judge per 6 entries

Speech & Acting Events: 1 judge per 6 entries

 

Who can judge?

High School Students who have competed in the event or have been on a team for at least 1 year and have an NFL standing of Excellence or higher.

** Please do not let finding judges to be a deterrent, let us know if there is an issue and we will do everything in our power to help you out.

 

Awards:

Trophies will be awarded to the top 6 placements in each event

In Congress we will announce the top 10 placements

Team Sweepstakes to top 6 placements

 

Student Congress

Please submit Congressional Debate Bills to Tracey Repa repa3@sbcglobal.net by April 3rd (Thursday) by Midnight.  Bill packets will be posted on SpeechWire.com by the 4th (Friday).

 

Elections of Presiding Officers will occur at the beginning of Congress Session #1. Presiding Officers should be familiar with Parliamentary Procedure, using Seating Charts, and Speaker Recency. Experience Presiding is not a requirement; however, proper knowledge of how a chamber functions is essential to the success of this event!

 

Students will vote on the Legislation Order at the beginning of Congress Session #1

 

Lincoln-Douglass & Public Forum Resolutions:

Please submit a resolution from the current season NFL (NSDA) to be used.

Submissions will be determined by popular vote.

Resolutions will be posted on SpeechWire.com by the 4th (Friday).

 

Policy Debate

As long as there is competition for students to compete against, we are happy to include this event.  Please let us know if you are interested..
