Northrop High School will be hosting a Speech Tournament on Saturday, October 12, 2013

Entries: Entries are due by Wednesday, October 9 at 5:00 P.M. After that, only name changes and drops will be accepted. All registration will be done on Speechwire.com
There is no entry limit. However, because of the nature of a round robin style tournament, students can, and probably will compete against their own team mates.

There will be no team awards.

There are no event entry limits.

Judges: Each school is required to be bring 1 judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof. Varsity competitors may serve as judges.

Events:

**Please note: Since this is the first competition for many of our speech students, many of the rules and protocols have been altered. Please inform your students that the leniency awarded at this tournament will not be awarded in future tournaments.

All events will have five preliminary rounds.

United States Extemp and International Extemp: On October 5, 2013, a list of all of the possible extemp topics will be posted to speechwire. These will be all of the possible topics the students will be able to choose for the competition. The purpose of this is to help young students and programs build their extemp files for the upcoming season.

Congress: 2, 8, 13, 14

Impromptu: All possible topics will be posted on October 5, 2013. The topics will be selected for rounds on a blind draw.

Radio: 1 minute commercial and 1 minute editorial will each be student choice. Newscast will be 3 minutes. There will be two on-the-spot rounds.

Discussion Topic: What is the best solution for partisan politics?
 
NO MEMORIZATION IS REQUIRED. However, judges are NOT to penalize students for memorizing.
