Greetings MDL,

We’re excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2013 MDL City Championship Tournament, to be held March 22-23 at Nicolet High School.

To compete, please keep in mind the following:

  • Novice teams are limited to: High Speed Rail Aff, Keystone XL Affirmative, Inland Waterways Affirmative, and the Smart Grid Affirmative. On the negative, they'll be limited to WDCA arguments (although, newly researched evidence i.e. uniqueness updates are OK), as well as the Gun Control and Middle East Politics DAs  (all of these can be found on debatemilwaukee.org under the 'Resources' tab).
  • There are no limits on what arguments the JV and Varsity can run, but teams must fully disclose 1ACs with citations by Monday, March 17 at 5:00 PM.  While we won't require negative disclosure, we strongly urge you to do so anyway.  Please email all disclosures to billaltorfer@urbandebate.org or post online to our argument wiki.
  • We will be offering Novice, JV, and Varsity divisions. These may be collapsed as needed due to numbers (and most likely, the JV/Varsity Divisions will be collapsed if history is any indication). That said, still register teams as you normally would -- awards will still be given out to JV debaters even if they compete in the combined division.
  • Tournament schedule can be found on the Tournament Documents section of Speechwire. It's also attached to the email we sent out announcing registration. ,
  • Prep time is 8 minutes.

Please let us know by backchannel if you have any questions or have any issues.

Thanks,
Bill

To register, please create an account and email billaltorfer@urbandebate.org with your school's name from the email address that you use to register.  The tournament is only open to those that are invited, so you MUST send your email and be invited before you can see details and register on the site.  Creating an account and registering for SpeechWire to be invited does not constitute a commitment to attend.

If you have any questions, please email me at the address above, our wonderful Tab Room Coordinator Ms. Paige Pritchard mrs.prichard@rocketmail.com or contact Joni Chmiel (Executive Director of the MDL) at jonichmiel@urbandebate.org

Also, apologies for any SpeechWire-related oddities in advance. If anything fails, just send me an email and we'll get you registered.
