MDL Urban Debate National Championship Qualifier
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Wisconsin. View manager contact information
Registration is now open for the 2013 MDL Urban Debate National Championship Qualifier, to be hosted by Nicolet High School on Saturday, February 23rd. The top two teams at the tournament will represent the Milwaukee Debate League at the 2013 Urban Debate National Championship in Washington, D.C.!
In addition to being open to students who qualify via the participation standard, each school will receive one at-large bid, open to students of any division (including novice). How you select the two students from your school is entirely up to you (some commonly-used criteria include seniority, participation, competitive record, etc.)
Following three preliminary rounds, the top four teams will advance to a semifinal round, with the winners of those rounds winning an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. and a chance to bring Milwaukee its first Urban Debate National Championship.
We absolutely encourage every school to compete at this tournament. It's a tournament that we hope will become a goal for students in your program every year, where your top teams can compete for a spot.
For students, just being selected to compete is an accomplishment. And if your selected team is a team novices, they'll be able to see first hand where they need to get to compete at the next level. That said, there will be one combined division, with no argument limitations.
