HOPE FOR NO SNOW INVITATIONAL SPEECH MEET

February 16, 2013

Lawrence North High School would like to invite you to our invitational speech meet on Saturday, February 16, 2013.  The deadline for preregistration is Feb 11, 2013 at 3:45 p.m. via Speechwire.com (Lawrence North Hope for No Snow Invitational)

FORMAT:

                •              4 straight rounds, no final

                •              Sweepstakes points & ribbons for top 10 finalists.

                •              No division of varsity/novice entries

TIMING:

                •              7:30-8:00  CHECK-IN

                •              8:00 Extemp Draw

                •              8:15 Judges' meeting in McColley Room

                •              8:30 First Round begins

                •              Rounds begin at 8:30, 9:45, 11, 12:15

                                Awards Projected for 2:45 p.m.

EVENTS:

Drama, Humor, Memorized duo, Scripted duo, Poetry, Prose, Original Performance, Declamation, Original Oratory, U. S. Extemp, International Extemp, and Impromptu.  Notice - no Discussion or Radio will occur.

Extemp:   Draws will occur before rounds one and three, Fourth Round will use their 3^rd round question.                 

Round 1   Draw at 8:00 and speak at 8:30

Round 2   Use the same topic from Round 1, speak at 9:15

Round 3   Draw at 11:00 and speak at 11:30

Round 4   Use the same topic from round 3, speak at 11:45

ENTRIES:

                •              5 entries maximum per any one event EXCEPT ORIGINAL ORATORY;

                                Schools may enter as many as they’d like in Original Oratory.

                •              No pick-ups

DOUBLING:

•              Both competitors in a duo may double, but no contestant may double in two

Duos (this includes OP duos).

•              Students who are doubled in impromptu should go to their impromptu round

LAST.

•              No tripling.

JUDGES:

                •              1 judge for every FIVE entries.  5 entries = 1 judge,  6 entries = 2 judges

                                Please put the names of your judges on your Speechwire.com entry.

AWARDS:

                •              Team trophies for top 10 teams.

                •              Sweepstakes pts:  1^st – 10; 2^nd – 9; 3^rd- 8; 4^th- 7; 5^th- 6; 6^th -5; 7^th -4; 8^th -3; 9^th -2;

10^th - 1

•              Ribbons for top 10 contestants

•             Before awards, we will be presenting 2 OPs and 2 MDUOs selected prior to 4^th round. These four duos will   be selected based on scores from the first 3 rounds, top two will present.

FOOD:  Breakfast and lunch items will be available in Cafeteria; Please bring lunch money.

               A Coach/Judge lounge will be available for adult staff.
