Dear Speech Coach:

The Walker Speech Department is sponsoring the 34th Annual Walker Junior High Speech Meet on Tuesday, March 12th. Registration will be in the HS Commons between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. with the speaking rounds beginning at 4:00 p.m. Draws will be at 3:30 p.m. If you are late, plan on missing the first round. Please have your bus driver drop you off on the west side of the HS by the new entrance. The buses should leave at this point and they may return after 4:00 p.m. to find parking.

There will be three rounds of competition in each of the thirteen MSHSL events. Ribbons will be awarded to the top speakers in each category.

There will be a fee of $2.50 per entrant. Reminder: Duo teams count as one entrant. Since this is the last junior high meet of the year, we will be presenting Heart of the Lakes conference awards in addition to awards from the evening’s results.

You must provide one judge for each SIX contestants. Senior high students who actively participate in speech may serve as those judges.

There will be a concession stand in the HS Commons with pizza, pop and “goodies”. Awards will be in the auditorium as close to 7:30 as possible.

Only SINGLE entry per person is allowed. No DOUBLE, TRIPLE, Etc entering is allowed.

Registration will be with SpeechWire.com. Many of you have accounts already set up – just find the Walker Junior High Invitational and follow the same process. If you’re a new team to SpeechWire – expect to enter a Team Key in an email to create your team homepage. Sometimes SpeechWire emails have been filtered to the SPAM folder – if you haven’t rec’d an invitation email – check your SPAM folder.
