Dear Speech Coach,
The New Ulm High School Speech Team would like to invite you to its 4th annual Eagles Speech Invitational on March 23, 2013. The tournament will include 3 preliminary rounds and finals for all 13 MSHSL categories. We hope you will join us for one of the last tournaments before sections for a day of great competition, efficiency, and fun.
Registration:
Registration and tabbing will take place on SpeechWire.com. All you need to do is set up your account as a coach and enter your team members to register. There are no team or event entry limits. Double entry is allowed for all categories except Discussion.
Entry Fees:
The entry fee is $6 per entry. Make checks out to New Ulm Speech Team. Please pay at the tournament registration table. Duos count as two entries ($12).
Entry Changes:
Registration will remain open on SpeechWire until Friday, March 22 at 4:00 p.m. for you to make adds/drops. Any changes to your team’s registration after that are nonrefundable. After March 22, all changes and adds/drops will be taken care of at tournament registration.
Draws:
Extemp Reading, Extemp Speaking, and Storytelling will draw from the full list of stories/international or national topics for all three rounds and finals to help prepare for sections.
Schedule:
7:30-8:15 a.m. Registration at Main Office
8:30 a.m. Draws for Round I
9:00 a.m. Round I
9:45 a.m. Draws for Round II
10:15 a.m. Round II
11:00 a.m. Draws for Round III
11:30 a.m. Round III
12:45-1:15 p.m. Lunch
1:30 p.m. Finals
3:30 p.m. Awards in gymnasium (approximate time)
Judges:
Teams should bring 1 judge for every 6 entries or faction thereof. No judges will be available for hire the day of the tournament. We ask all judges be available to judge final rounds.
Awards:
Trophies will be awarded to 1st-3rd places in each category; ribbons will be awarded for 4th-7th place. 1st-3rd place trophies will be awarded to the top 3 schools in both large and small school entries.
Concessions:
A concession stand will be open during the tournament and for lunch for students to purchase items.
