Friends and Colleagues,

The students and staff at the University of Michigan and Central Michigan University are pleased to invite you to the 2nd Annual Perfect Pairs Swing Tournament to be held on February 9th and 10th, 2013. Both halves of the swing will be held on the scenic University of Michigan Campus in Ann Arbor, MI.  Registration, the Tabulation Room and the majority of competition rooms will be based out of the Mason/Angell Hall Complex. Tournament registration will be located on the first floor of Mason Hall.

The weekend before Valentine’s Day, love is sure to be in the air! To celebrate the season, we have decided to honor the idea of finding your perfect mate by celebrating a classic pair we all know and love: Speech AND Debate! We are delighted to bring you a fun-filled weekend of competition offering all 11 AFA events and the NFA experimental event: Long-form Impromptu. Separate Lincoln-Douglas Debates will be offered on both days. On each day of the swing, awards will be presented to the top novice in each category, the top six speakers in each IE event, finalists and semifinalists in debate, top three quadrathon competitors and the top three schools (IE and Debate will be treated separately). On Sunday, novice divisions will be offered if numbers warrant, The tournament will also be offering special themed awards for the finalists in Duo Interpretation!

Please register your entry on at www.speechwire.com before 5 PM on Tuesday, February 5th, 2013. Please note that you must register for each day of the swing separately. To register for the University of Michigan’s Saturday portion, please use the link for “Perfect Pairs Swing Pt. 1”. If drops are received before registration, the fee for IE is $15 per slot and $100 per dropped judge. At registration, the drop fees will be increased to $20 per slot and $175 per dropped judge. For debate, the pre-registration drop fees are $30 per slot and $150 per dropped judge. At registration, debate drop fees will be increased to $50 per slot and $300 per dropped judge. Drop fees will be applied for each day of the swing (as each day is a separate tournament).

We sincerely hope you can join us for this fun filled weekend of IE and debate competition. Ann Arbor is a wonderful place to host a tournament and we are proud call it our host sight. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and if you so desire ask us for some recommendations! In case you didn’t know, we like food. A lot.
