Please join us at the Buffalo Grove 12th Annual Hypothermic Tournament of Mittens on January 12th, 2013.  We will again schedule the tournament in a “paperless” schematic.  This involves clean communication with SpeechWire before and on the 12th, which works rather nicely for our tournament.  

 

This year we will be once again taking donations of mittens and winter outerwear for charity.  The items collected will be donated in the name of every school that participates to WINGS, a shelter and resource for homeless and abused women and children.  The team that donates the most items will be recognized in awards with the “Warmest Heart” award.  Please see guidelines for this award on Speechwire documents file.

 

Competition will be held in fifteen individual events.  

DDA, DI, Duo, EX, HDA, HI, IMP, INFO, OD, OC, OO, PO, PR, RS, SOS

 

We will hold Final & Next In rounds. 

Team awards will be based upon the top two highest scores in each event from pre-lims.

 

1 qualified judge per 6 entries (if incremental, please round up).

If you are required to bring over 8 judges please contact us for possible purchase out of a judge.  

Purchase out cost will cover us having a clean judge placed into the tournament. 

 

Radio: Students will prep at the tournament for Rounds 1 and 2; they can use either script in Round 3. Students will prep again for the Final/Next In round. An individual student may not double enter in Extemporaneous Speaking if they are entered in Radio Speaking.

 

Extemporaneous Speaking: Students will prep at the tournament for Rounds 1 and 2; they can use either prepped topic in Round 3.  Students will prep again for the Final/Next In round.  An individual student may not double enter in Radio Speaking if they are entered in Extemporaneous Speaking.

 

Time: There will be an official penalty for time violations in Radio.

Judges may individually consider time as part of the criteria for ranking in all other events.

 

You may triple enter competitors; however, the schedule will be tight and a round cannot be held up for a late student.  In finals, a contestant may be triple entered. 

 

Entry fee: based on number of entries, not on full teams

1-16  entries  $90.00

17-27 entries $150.00

28-40 entries $230.00

41-60 entries $310.00
