Chris Glaser Louisville Tournament

Louisville High School will host its fifth regular season tournament on Saturday, December 1, 2012. We will host competition for all OHSSL Individual Events, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Policy Debate, and Student Congress. All events will compete on Saturday. We look forward to seeing all of you this season and hope that you can make plans to attend.

Tournament Particulars:

TIME:

Saturday, December 1, 2012

Registration will begin at 7:15am. (Our goal is to get debate off and running by 8:00am)

WHERE:

Speech events will be held at Louisville High School and all debate events including student congress will be held at Louisville Middle School. We ask that you drop your debaters off first at the Middle School and then park buses at the very back of the high school parking lot along with those driving separate. There will be a girl’s basketball game at the high school that day and so parking will be tight.

ENTRIES:

This year our school is DONE with construction! We will accept as many entries as you can bring from each school in all events. However, if we accept all entries we may have students competing in some snug areas or out in the middle of our courtyard. Nothing enhances a drama piece more than sleet and cold miserable rain.

DEBATE:

Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum will participate in four rounds of competition. Policy Debate (if we start at 8:00am) will compete in three rounds. Public Forum will use the December topic and Lincoln-Douglas will use the November/December topic. Policy will debate the space topic.

CONGRESS:

All legislation must be downloaded from the OHSSL website. We will use the December docket particularly those pieces selected for December 1.  Competitors should bring their own copy of the full packet of legislation to competition. NO COPIES OF THE PACKET OF LEGISLATION WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE TOURNAMENT.

JUDGES:

Please provide judges according to the following ratios:

I.E.: 1 I.E. judge for every 5 I.E. contestants of portion thereof (ex: 3 I.E. contestants=1 judge; 12 I.E. contestants =3 judges)

Congress: 1 Parliamentarian/Scorer for every 4 contestants or portion thereof

Public Forum: 1 PF judge for every 2 teams or portion thereof

Lincoln-Douglas: 1 LD judge for every 2 entries or portion thereof

Policy Debate: 1 Policy judge for every 2 teams or portion thereof

WE CANNOT PROVIDE JUDGES FOR HIRE. THERE WILL BE GREAT ANGER AND NASHING OF TEETH FOR EACH JUDGING POSITION THAT IS NOT FILLED THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT.

FEES:

$3.50 per contestant

$7.00 per Duo/Policy/Public Forum Team

WE WILL BE CHARGING A DROP FEE FOR STUDENT DROPS AFTER DECEMBER 2

MAKE ALL CHECKS PAYABLE TO LOUISVILLE HIGH SCHOOL SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM

AWARDS:

Awards will be given to the top six speakers in all events. School Sweepstakes Awards will be presented to the top 3 teams based on the best speaker from each school in every event.

LUNCH:

Our Speech and Debate moms will be providing lunch for competitors at a reasonable price in the cafeteria over at the Middle School following all rounds of competition. We're asking that all schools plan on eating at Louisville Middle School; this will enable us to reach you if there is a problem. We ask that Speech Judges please stay at the high school to enjoy lunch in the judge’s lounge. Debate judges will also be served a delightful spread at the middle school in the debate judge’s lounge.

REGISTRATION:

We will accept registration through Thursday, November 29 at 3:00-space provided. Any additions after this time may not be accepted; any deletions after this time will count as drops and be charged a $2.00 fee. Registration will fill up on a first come first served basis.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ON THE FIRST!
